Lesson overview
In this lesson we show you one of the key techniques for building didgeridoo rhythms. This is achieved by making pulses with your diaphragm. The good news is that this is quite an easy technique to do and it sounds fantastic!
Lesson goals
- Be able to play “ha… ha… ha… ha…” diaphragm pulses while maintaining a clear drone
- Speed up the “ha… ha…” rhythm to push your limits
- Aim for maximum lip tension to achieve the sharpest drone
- Be able to play the “ha… ha… he… he… ho… ho…” rhythm clearly
- See how many times you can play this rhythm using one breath
Training tips
- You don’t need to pulse hard, keep your pulses gentle, you will easily hear the sound change
- When you pulse your diaphragm, adjust your lip tightness to stop loosing too much air
- Aim for good definition so you can clearly hear the different between “ha”, “he” and “ho”
- This rhythm sounds awesome played fast. Challenge yourself to see how fast you can play it.
