Lesson overview

You can make great sound changes by actually miming the name of the instrument itself… “didgeridoo”. In this lesson we also show you how to use this technique to play your first rhythm

Lesson goals

  • Mime each syllable clearly “did… ge… ri… doo” while maintaining a clear drone
  • Repeat “didgeridoo” 5 times on one breath
  • Play the rhythm “didgeridoo… didgeridoo… didgeri…didgeridoo”

Training tips

  • The letter “D” actually stops the air coming out briefly. It can be difficult to make the drone start each time this happens. Stick with it, we know it can be frustrating, but it will get easier soon
  • Keeping your cheeks in tight and close by using the Mona Lisa smile technique will make a huge difference in the clarity of this technique
  • The clearer your drone sounds, the better you will hear the kangaroo hopping
  • Keep the syllables separate to start with until it’s sounding good, then join together
  • Aim for razor sharp pronunciation
